Restaurante Fernando is a no-nonsense place to enjoy fresh fish and seafood. Unpretentious but genuinely tasty. Even without a reservation, the team was exceptionally kind and made space for us — though reservations are definitely recommended.
The menu is straightforward and depends on the day’s catch, which you can see displayed before ordering. Staff are friendly, hardworking, and impressively quick for such a busy spot. If you’re unsure what to choose, trust their recommendations — they know their fish.
The house wine paired perfectly with our selection of grilled fish, and the grilled sardines made a great start to the meal.

The Good: - Probably one of the best seafood restaurants I’ve ever tried - Waiters were super friendly and guided us through the menu - Sea bass was just perfect. It was moist, perfectly salted, and filleted perfectly at the table - Sardines were cooked to perfection with perfect seasoning A must-visit place if you’re near Porto

Really liked the friendly service and good food. Portion sizes are good too. Prices for some fish are per kg. You can definitely order a fish for 1 person, for example 0,5kg. The tomato rice is really nice.

The fisherman for this restaurant gave us the recommendation, and they didn't disappoint. Top notch service with the most delicious food. I highly recommend the fried sardines, the best I've ever eaten. And the sea bass, also some of the best! Thank fisherman Paola.
Very good restaurant, the crab meat is incredible and so is their speciality : the chicken/duck blood rice. It sounds and looks not that good at the first time but trust me, it’s worth it!

We had a wonderful dining experience here last night. The owner & staff were attentive and helpful.
They gave me a gooseneck barnacle to try when they saw me looking at the seafood display, & were very understanding that we didn’t speak Portuguese. Instead, they did their best to communicate in English & it was a lovely, friendly exchange.
We had clams (briny, succulent) with buttery grilled toast, seafood rice (stuffed with seafood with a delicate fresh tomato base) & housewine (crisp, balance & a generous pour).
The portions were so generous we barely finished, & the total bill came to just €60 for 2 diners. What a great value experience that I’d recommend without hesitation.
Take the time to find this slightly hidden restaurant. It is cosy inside and popular with locals.

* spectacular flavourful seafood rice * nice fresh sardines * good price Hidden gem (the outside of the restaurant does not invite you to come in), but the beauty is inside! Totally worth it!!
Super fast service, good food, friendly service. They did not speak much English but we managed to understand each other without problems. Can get crowded the weekends, better do a booking.

This place was recommended by a local guide and it couldn't have been more perfect. Order some fish and a rice (the rice is sufficient for 2-3 persons) and enjoy, my friends!

The fish and the seafood are very fresh. The sea bass was grilled by fire.
Very authentic Portuguese food and friendly staff. The sea bass and cod cakes were very flavorful and filling. Very fresh as well.
